DCC Block

Dynamic Currency Conversion has its merits, but we support local-currency payments only. DCC payments in a customer’s home currency can incur very high FX fees, in some cases up to 18%, so our system accepts payments in local currency only to avoid excessive conversion costs.

What Is Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC)?

Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) lets international cardholders choose to pay at the point of sale or ATM in their home currency instead of the local currency. This makes the price easier to understand, but DCC providers typically add an exchange rate markup and may charge extra fees, so customers often pay more than if their bank performed the conversion.
For merchants, DCC can appear convenient but it can also erode trust, increase disputes, and lead to higher costs for buyers. A clearer approach is to offer transparent local-currency checkout or competitive FX through your payment partner so customers see fair pricing and approval rates improve.

East Asian Customers View DCC Blocking as a Valuable Financial Tip

DCC Block by Default

If customers aren’t aware of DCC and don’t choose local-currency payment, everyone can lose: customers pay higher fees, merchants don’t receive extra revenue, and only intermediary exchangers profit.

Increased Customer Trust

When customers see unexpectedly high charges from DCC, they may feel confused, avoid repurchasing, and abandon the merchant without asking customer service—resulting in lost customers with no clear reason.

Enhanced Brand Reputation

Many banks and payment providers in East Asia promote DCC-blocking as a standard consumer protection. Offering DCC blocking positions your brand as fair and customer-focused, improving public trust and credibility.
